Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have been officially declared candidates for more than half a year. There are still three months until the first votes are cast at the Iowa Caucuses. A primary campaign is a long one, and increasing in recent years. There is a lot of time for things to change, political winds to blow, fortunes to rise and fall, and assumptions be made, challenged, and broken. That said, once the voting begins, the pace picks up. The Iowa caucuses on February 2nd start things off at a relatively slow trot, but things pick up pace dramatically after that. By the end of February, we will have heard from Democrats in just four states. By the end up March, we will have heard from over half the states in the country.
