Hillary had a great month in May, raising more than 40 million dollars- $27 million for her campaign and another $13.5 million for downballot Democrats. With her focus on the general election and her primary opponent dispatched, she has been able to save money for the fall contest, ending the month with $42 million CoH.
In all, Clinton has collected more than $240 million for the nomination battle and has raised more than $62 million for party committees.
"We have the resources we need to run a winning general-election campaign," Clinton's campaign manager Robby Mook said in a news release. "Hillary Clinton remains focused on ensuring that she and Democrats up and down the ballot are able to mobilize millions of voters and win in November."
Pushing the money raised for downballot Dems over the $50 million (and the $60 million in the same month) mark will be huge in the fall. With a good chance at regaining the Senate, an outside shot at the House, and crucial gains to be made in state houses around the country as redistricting looms in 2020, these investments in key races will shape the future of the Supreme Court and state governments for years to come.
The average donation was just $44 dollars, meaning the Clinton grassroots fundraising operation will be able to return to donors again as we move forward. After she clinches the nomination next week, we can probably expect an even stronger month in June. Meanwhile Clinton has been able to be very thrifty in terms of what she has spent, stockpiling a massive warchest for the fall campaign.

— Josh Schwerin (@JoshSchwerin) June 1, 2016Sanders has not yet released his fundraising numbers for May (speculation is that the numbers are disappointing, as he has released his numbers immediately in the past) and I cannot find whether or not Trump has released his. It is unlikely that her past opponent or her current one will post numbers this strong for the month of May.
